People asked for it. It was inevitable. And soon we'll be watching a film about FACEBOOK. Who hasn't used, or at least, heard about the widely popular social networking system that seems to be the latest craze? Chances are, you're reading this article through the visitpaceville.com FACEBOOK page. There you go, you see? Well, not surprisingly, Hollywood has decided to do a film about it - (as the film industry seems stuck on doing remakes and everything it sees as eye-catchy).
Chronicling the founding of FACEBOOK, 'The Social Network' (directed by David Fincher, 'Se7en', 'Fight Club'), follows the story of Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin and their struggles that would make them amongst the richest people in the world. As with the majority of upcoming films, a marketing campaign is already in full swing to promote the release of the 'The Social Network' on October 1st. It is based on the 2009 book by Ben Mezrich, 'The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal' ... hmm, sounds interesting doesn't it?
Well it should be, considering a lot of work has been going on to create much hype by releasing two teaser trailers in June and July. Although not visually attractive (it's the audio that's the main presence in both trailers), they are still very intriguing and create a sense of expectation and intrigue. Movieviral.com (one of the best websites on current viral marketing promotions) has been providing coverage of 'The Social Network' ever since we heard an announcement of its release. Although unlike the 'Cloverfield' marketing strategies, we are still excited about further updates before its actual release.
The film stars Andrew Garfield (as Saverin), Jesse Eisenber (Zuckerberg) and Justin Timberlake, amongst others. It mainly follows the footsteps of Zuckerberg and from what we have been provided by the first poster and website, the film doesn't seem to portray him in a positive light. The story will revolve around greed, obsession and unpredictability - and apparently Zuckerberg himself isn't too keen about the whole movie thing.
No matter what Mr.Zuckerberg thinks, it'll be interesting to witness the rise of FACEBOOK – taking a look at the events that have contributed to its creation (no doubt, with the frequent 'Hollywood Intervention' here and there). So, head over to thesocialnetwork-movie.com to check out more updates and no matter what comes next, the tagline is enough to get us hyped.
